Guitar lessons began for Jorge at the young age of eight years old. At twelve, he began his music studies at the Elementary Conservatory “Adolfo Guzman”, in Havana.  Jorge continued to pursue his love of music and in 1992 graduated as a Professor of Theoretical and Musical Subjects from the Amadeo Roldan National Conservatory of Music where he also took classical piano training and piano harmony studies.

In 1994, Jorge started to work as a music teacher at the Pedagogical University “Enrique Jose Varona”, in Havana where he taught guitar, music theory, music reading and harmony. Jorge is also a singer. His singing experience includes being a Tenor voice in the Chamber Choire “Schola Cantorum Coralina”, one of the most important choirs in Cuba, participating in many concerts around the country and in an international concerts tour in Sao Paulo, Brazil. In 1998, Jorge started to sing in a vocal a cappella band known as “Vocal Sampling”. This band received international recognition, giving concert tours in more than thirty countries around the world, performing in theaters, and a variety of music festivals. Vocal Sampling was also nominated for a Latin Grammy in 1998 and 2002. Jorge moved to Calgary in 2008 and began teaching guitar and voice.

Jorge has performed in many Latin bands such as Bomba, Sabroson, and Panaband, just to name a few. He has performed Latin music and Latin jazz in several bands. Jorge is also a regular performer at the Calgary Latin Festivals. In the beginning of 2013, Jorge started his own band known as Salsonealo. This band debuted in the two most important Latin festivals in Calgary, Fiestaval and Expo Latino. Jorge is currently working in Salsonealo, however, sings and plays guitar when called on.

Jorge is an encouraging, kind teacher who offers a wide diversity of music knowledge and support to his students.
