Specializing in Piano and Violin.
Mariah has been playing violin since the age of five and piano since the age of eight. She has completed her Royal Conservatory of Music Grade 10 Violin with first class honors, as well as Royal Conservatory of Music Grade 9 Piano. She also has official teacher training from the Suzuki Association of America, and has taught many different methods and styles of music. Mariah has been teaching for over five years and has experience teaching all ages from five years old to adult.
In addition to teaching, Mariah has also performed in many different musical groups, and is currently a member of the first violin section of the Symphony of the Kootenays, and plays in a gypsy post-punk band.
Mariah believes in tailoring lessons to the individual and will teach each student according to their own unique learning style. Students of Mariah are encouraged to explore genres of music that interest them, while developing a solid technical foundation through learning classical repertoire.
Mariah’s Musical Approach to Teaching:
- Practice makes perfect! Mariah believes that it is important for students to practice a minimum of 30 minutes a day
- Consistency is key! Student progress may be accelerated and enhanced by careful, consistent practice.
